This month we welcome Eleanor (@unoxymoronic) from the nearby Cardiff Go Meetup with a talk she gave earlier this year at Gophercon UK about Go's role in publishing data at the Office for National Statistics!
Thanks to NatWest for kindly hosting us this month.
* Please bring a form of ID with you, e.g. a driving license or passport! *
Here is the plan with (infeasibly precise) timings.
18:15 - Arrive at the RBS Group Building reception for food & chat (BS2 OPT)
18:30 - Welcome/Start
18:35 - "go-ns - Go's role in publishing data at the Office for National Statistics" - Eleanor Deal
ONS needed to take obtuse datasets and publish them in a searchable way - so citizens can start to make sense of statistics the affect them. Using Go we've rebuilt how data gets prepared, a pipeline for custom queries and extended our go-ns library - learning more about the practical sides of Go.
19:20 - Break
19:40 - Lightning talk TBC (we're looking for speakers, please get in touch!)
20:00 Head home or continue your conversations at the pub right next door (probably the Knights Templar https://goo.gl/maps/ixN9r7zzRiH2).
